There’s a particular kind of photography that heritage vessels demand: an eye for rigging, sail trim and the details that matter to people who know boats, alongside the drama that makes a tall ship under full sail genuinely stop people scrolling.

It’s a niche within marine photography, built on a real appreciation for the vessels themselves, an understanding of sailing, not just the ability to point a camera at the water.

Coverage typically combines chase-boat photography for the closer, more intimate shots, and aerial work for the wider compositions that show a fleet, a regatta or a ship’s full silhouette against the coastline.

Heritage fleets and tall ship events happen well beyond Cornwall too, and this work travels, to maritime festivals, regattas and commissions overseas, with the experience to plan around each destination’s own logistics and, where drone coverage is needed, its own airspace and UAV rules.
Timing matters more here than almost any other kind of marine work; sail trim, light and sea state all need to align, and shoots are planned around tide, weather and event schedules to give the best chance of catching a vessel at her most photogenic.
